About Attorney Hurd
For over 40 years, Mr. Hurd has represented clients in the Commonwealth of Virginia, appearing frequently in the courts of the counties, cities and towns of Northern Virginia, and elsewhere.

Following graduation from law school, he served as a member of the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, serving as defense counsel and then as chief prosecutor at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He was recalled to active duty for service as a legal officer during Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and subsequently retired from the Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel.

After his initial period of military service, Mr. Hurd was an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Fairfax County, Virginia, where he prosecuted the widest possible range of cases, from traffic infractions to homicide, appearing in a significant number of trials by jury. During this time, he also taught criminal law and evidence to law enforcement personnel at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy.

Mr. Hurd then became a member of a prominent Northern Virginia law firm, where he focused on criminal law and personal injury litigatoin.  For a portion of his time there, he practiced in the firm’s office in Manassas, Virginia.

He opened his own law office in 1988. As a sole practitioner, Mr. Hurd gives his personal attention to each matter he handles, and communicates promptly with each client or potential client.  He is committed to the thorough preparation of each case and the effective representation of each client, whether by negotiation or trial.  He makes every effort to be flexible in his office hours and fee arrangements to accommodate the particular needs of each client.
